I should find a way to check what my grandfather Kiburi Thumbi 2 (half brother to the Kiburi wa Thumbi in Sr Chief Waruhiu's car) left in shares. My great grandfather Thumbi wa Kabi had 4 wives, the 2nd of whom had my grand father Kiburi 2 (They were Kiburi 1, 2, 3 and 4) There's a photo in my parents house with the four of them.

That makes you a second cousin because one of your parents is a cousin to my dad!!! Yippee!!! I know my Aunties know your parents and many of your aunts and uncles. We should explore this, no?

We are grandchildren of Kiburi Thumbi 2.

I should actually be named Wanjiru after wife No 2 of Thumbi wa Kabi, our common great-grandfather. the name was changed to Wanjiku due to the numerous Wanjiru's in the family.

my grandfather's name was kiburi and i was named after him....growing up people would call me thumbi 2 of which i never understood why... i am also looking at the probabilities of how my grandfathers land is a few meters from waruhiu farm...

Now I'm really curious. Kiburi was your maternal or paternal grandfather? Where are you from? Waruhiu farm is in Kanjai and I have an aunt married there. We are from Kiambururu in Githunguri, Kiambu County. If my dad was still alive, I'd ask him to talk with you. Anyone names Kiburi is most certainly my relative. My only brother is Kiburi too!

SO, just to get you right, which Kiburi Thumbi exactly was your paternal grandfather? 1. 2 3 or 4? I need to get in touch with my cousins and the remaining aunts to place your family as those who gre up in Githunguri are more in touch with all relatives... It's sometimes mindboggling! What's your dads name by the way? Mine is Newton Kogi Kiburi. They were three brothers, the sons of Kiburi Thumbi 2, Samson Thumbi Kiburi, my dad and Njoroge was Kiburi. They're all deceased now, and buried in Kiambururu near the church named after Guka, PCEA Kiburi Thumbi II Memorial Church.

In the event our grandfathers were brothers, that would make us 2nd cousins.

I know its been a while but I never saw this reply. There's a big possibility of anyone bearing the name Kiburi being a relative, no matter how distant.
